Accommodations
If you have a documented disability requiring academic adjustments for this class, please contact Dr. KoKo Oyler, Director of Disability Services ph.303-458-4941; e-mail: ioyler@regis.edu. She will review your documentation with you and help determine appropriate, reasonable accommodations. Make an appointment early in the semester with Dr. Oyler and be sure to meet with me, the instructor, before any relevant course requirements take effect. Accommodations are not provided retroactively and adequate lead time is required.
Attendance
Attendance is vital to communication and the creation of a learning community. For specific attendance policies, refer to the course syllabus.
Courtesy
While not precisely an academic policy, courtesy in an academic setting is a practice that can have a positive effect on your education. Within the classroom, mutual respect between teacher and student and among students enhances learning. Arriving on time, avoiding disruptive behaviors (sleeping, private conversations, studying for another class or reading the newspaper, moving about the classroom) not only creates the impression that you are a serious student, it helps you be a serious student. I have posted office hours and other times available for appointments; please sign up and see me during these times. It is worth noting that different professors have different standards for courteous behavior.
Deadlines, Lifelines, and Guidelines
All exam dates are listed on the syllabus and all due dates are listed on assignments; plan your life accordingly. There are penalties for missed exams and late assignments though things always go better when you can communicate your difficulties in advance rather than after the fact.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the use of another's words, ideas or conceptual framework without attribution. Whether it is intentional or not, plagiarism is a serious offense. Sanctions may range from failure on the assignment to failure for the course to academic probation or expulsion. It is easy to avoid intentional plagiarism; to avoid unintentional plagiarism, check with your instructor or the writing center.
