 | The Opportunity: The Unity Commission of the Colorado Council of Churches is involved in an effort to facilitate dialogue and understanding among the various members of the CCC to move into a more full understanding of the unity
among us which already exists by virtue of our relationship to Christ.

| The Centerpiece: The Statement Concerning Christian Unity was fashioned over a period of months in conversation with representatives from the various member denominations. This statement is the centerpiece of the conversation which we hope happens within congregations
as well as within the various denominations who comprise the Council of Churches.

| Facilitating Conversation: The first purpose of the Statement is to provide an opportunity for Christians to discuss among themselves the meanings of the Statement. Given that differences and similarities of understandings exist within individual churches as well as
the various denominations, a conversation about the various statements can deepen our understanding of our shared faith.

| Standing Together: As the conversation progresses, we seek to have each of the governing bodies affirm the Statement. As the Statement is discussed at the church level and then the judicatory level, our experience of the Unity which already exists will become more
palpable.

| The Challenge: As members of the Body of Christ we too often focus on that which seemingly divides us. As we learn to listen respectfully to each other and embrace the mystery of unity within diversity, we can each find our faith deepened and out
life together enhanced.
