The student exchange is a cooperative effort between three US universities (Regis, Gonzaga, USF) and two Brazilian universities. Students in the US can choose either the bustling city life of Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) in central Brazil, or the quieter Universidade Federal de Alagoas (UFAL) on the tourist coast of northern Brazil. Each have their advantages and both should be considered carefully. When choosing the university, consider the classes available, the quality of the research and field work that you might do at each university, the cultural experience that might be gained, and finally the location -- do you prefer the inner-city Brazilian nightlife, or the quiet that comes with palm-lined beaches? Approach this decision the same way that you decided on your college in the US. A view of downtown Belo Horizonte from a part of the UFMG campus. (Photo: David Bahr) |
