Fort Lewis College, Durango

Americorps*VISTA member Esther Chapman is currently designing a Public Achievement class at Durango High School in collaboration with Fort Lewis Adventure and Teacher Education students. In addition, Esther continues to support Fort Lewis College's Upward Bound program, as well as coordinates ongoing dialogues in the Durango community to identify sustainable strategies to better support local youth.

 
Esther Chapman graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Communications. She also has interests in art, theatre, yoga, archery, outdoor education, wilderness therapy, sustainability, eco psychology and Jungian psychology. In addition to serving as an AmeriCorps* VISTA member, Esther is currently living in a teepee on the same land as an organic farm school, where she is learning organic gardening and wild edible plant identification and food preparation. After her term of service, Esther hopes to travel to the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest to study botany, as well as pursue a graduate degree in Wilderness Therapy at Naropa University in Boulder.
