We serve our members by:

  • Promoting public policy that supports higher education’s public mission;

  • Cultivating supportive campus community environments that link academic and
    community based learning;

  • Awarding funds to promote curriculum, program development, faculty fellowships,
    Careers In the Common Good and partnerships between campuses and
    communities;

  • Convening conferences, workshops, and meetings to support dialogs among
    presidents, administrators, faculty, program directors, students and community
    partners;

  • Offering technical assistance as campuses conduct research and evaluate the
    impacts of service learning on students, institutions, and communities; and

  • Publishing and disseminating timely information such as biannual research
    findings (The Michigan Journal for Service Learning), reports (Service Matters),
    bulletins, funding notices and other publications;

  • Forming partnerships among higher education institutions in the Intermountain
    West and community, government and business leaders;

  • Rewarding and promoting outstanding work in the field.
