I buried myself in research and travelled extensively during the 2008-2009 academic year.  I didn't blog everything (boooring), but I've posted some (not all) of the highlights on this page.  So here are the results, by the numbers and by pictures (below).

Academic (snooty stuff):

• 5 -- peer-reviewed and published science research papers.
• 9 -- emails telling me I'm wrong and climate-change research is bullpoop (a sign of success, eh?).
• 1 -- NPR interviews.
• 1 -- NYTimes interviews.
• 1 -- mentions in Nature Geoscience.
• 1 -- mentions in Ladies Home Journal (mmm hmm).
• 2 -- journal covers featuring my artwork and photographs.
• 6 -- number of continents with newspapers reporting on my research.

Travel and revitalization (still snooty, but less so):

• 134 -- days spent skiing.
• 95 -- days spent travelling.
• 45 -- days spent backpacking and camping.
• 24 -- days lounging on tropical beaches.
• 47 -- books read with no equations.
• 4 -- countries visited.
• 9 -- states visited.
• 1 -- US territories visited.
• 5 -- tropical islands visited.
• 3 -- number of doctor visits involving the words "swine" or "broken."
• 1 -- bank accounts devastated.
• 0 -- regrets about above.
