How Do I See My Web Page?
Now that you have created this web masterpiece, how do you see it without all of the HTML code. Just follow these steps:
1. You must first make sure you have saved your web page on to a floppy disk. If you are not sure how to do this, go back to the HTML Tutorials home page and find out how to save your page on a floppy disk.
2. If your web page includes any pictures, your picture files must also be on the same floppy disk as your web page.
3. Click the "minimize" button on the Notepad screen. This button can be found in the top right corner of the Notepad screen next to the "X" button. After clicking the minimize button, the Notepad screen should disappear. If you want to use the Notepad program again, just find it at the bottom of your screen and click it.
4. Go to the Start-up screen. This is the screen you usually see when you first start up your computer. It is usually blue and has several icons on it.
5. Click the Internet Explorer button. It looks like a blue "e". This will start your Internet browser software. If you have Netscape rather than Internet Explorer, get your Netscape program running. You do not have to be hooked up to the Internet to see your web page.
6. Once the browser is loaded, click "File" located in the top left corner of the browser screen.
7. Click "Open". A box should appear.
8. In the Open Box click the Browse button.
9. The top of the Open Box should say "3 1/2 Floppy A". If it does not, press the down arrow key and find the 3 1/2 Floppy Drive.
10. Your web page, among other files should be listed. It will probably have a picture of a letter "e" next to it. Click on your web page file.
11. The name of your file should appear in the Open Box. Click "Okay". Your web page should now load up.
The "Refresh" is very useful. It looks like a piece of paper with two curly arrows. If your page does not look quite as it should, clicking the "Refresh" button may fix the problem.
