Master's of Science Database Practicum
The Database Practicum is where you can:
- Gain practical, hands-on DBA experience where you reinforce skills learned in previous database courses
- Learn new database technologies not exposed to in database courses
- Gain real-world experience working in a virtual Information Technology company-like environment
- Take the MSCD 698 Database Technology Thesis course within the Practicum
- Have available a research platform that can be used towards the collection of data to fulfill your Master's Thesis requirement
- Work closely with your Thesis Advisor within the research platform
- Obtain an employer letter of recommendation for your accomplishments during the practicum experience
Pre-Requisites:
- MSCD 600 Architecture
- MSCD 610 Database Concepts
- MSCD 640 Oracle Database Administration
- MSCC 697 Information Technology Research Methods
Features of the Database Practicum:
- Offered twice a year (every 6 months)
- First session goes from January - June and second session goes from July - December
- Specific topics and lab exercises taught in an online format using the Academic Research Virtual Lab (do not need to be located in the Denver, CO area to participate)
- Topics taught by expert Affiliate Faculty members working as DBAs in industry
- New course added to the MScDT curriculum to give you 3 hours credit for practicum work - MSCD 692 Database Practicum (optional)
- MSCD 698 Database Technology Thesis course taken third 8 weeks of the practicum (all students) where you work on your thesis paper with an experienced Thesis Advisor.
