|Demetra Velisarios Jaquet, M.Div., has been Adjunct Faculty in the School for
Professional Studies, Regis University, Denver since 1990, and teaches in the
Departments of Religious Studies, Philosophy, and Psychology, as well as
facilitating Guided Independent Studies and Capstone courses in those areas. Her
classroom courses include Adult Spiritual Life, Women Religion and Spirituality,
Comparative Western Religions, Comparative Eastern Religions, and Death and
She is a Pastoral Counselor, Spiritual Director and cross-cultural counselor at PCD Counseling in Denver, plus has five years experience as a Hospice and Hospital Chaplain. Specialized professional interests include prayer and healing, relationship dynamics and solutions, womenís issues, adult spiritual life, and grief and loss. She also counsels pastors and their families for Quiet Waters Ministries, Denver.

Church, Greenwood Village, Colorado, where she is also a member. She and her

She holds a B.A. in Philosophy and English from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, an M.Div. in Pastoral Counseling from Iliff School of Theology, Denver, and a Certificate in Orthodox Studies from Holy Cross Orthodox School of Theology, Brookline, Mass. She is a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, where she serves as Regional Chair of Leadership Development for the Rocky Mountain/Plains Region. She is also a Board Certified Chaplain in the Association for Professional Chaplains, and a Member of the American Academy of Religion.
She is International Chair of the Womenís Orthodox Ministries and Education Network (WOMEN), North American Chair of Orthodox People Together (OPT), and on the steering committee for Orthodox Christian Association of Medicine, Psychology and Religion (OCAMPR). She is Director of the Internet ecumenical mentoring network for women, "Gifts of the Spirit- Ministries Mentoring", based in Denver. She functions on the Editorial Board of the St. Nina Quarterly, and as Director of Macrina Books.
She is active in the Denver Interfaith Womenís Group, and presents retreats for WomanSpace/WomanTime, a Denver based Catholic retreat group. She is being mentored as a Facilitator for Centering Prayer at the Center for Contemplative Outreach in Denver.
She served as the Director of the Orthodox Community Outreach Center in central Denver for two years, and was the Chaplain to the Central Presbyterian Menís Homeless Shelter in downtown Denver for three years. She has been a member and also served as Chaplain to the Capitol Hill United Ministries, and has been the Orthodox lay representative to the Colorado Council of Churches.
She has conducted many workshops, retreats, and community classes, and frequently publishes articles on a variety of subjects in religion and psychology, with special interest in prayer and healing, spiritual growth and development, mind/body/spirit studies, and transpersonal psychology.
